Hot, tasty coffee; but died after only 5 weeks of ownership : Melitta 12-Cup Coffee Percolator
We had a Farberware perc for 6 months before the heating element quit working. For $70-ish, we wanted a perc to last longer than 6 months. Reviews of various brands/models showed a decent perc that lasts several years apparently doesn't exist anymore. We opted for this new Melitta model b/c we've had 7+ good years with a hot water kettle w/the same type heating element. For 5 weeks the coffee has been hot and tasty...no complaints; then suddenly--it's still hot, but not brewing. Looks like tea. I'm tired of wasting expensive coffee in an attempt to see if this perc is truly dead after 5 weeks. Yes...sadly, it is. Off to figure out how to get a decent cup of coffee without dropping $70+ every 1-6 months...
